Created in 2003 from the will and passion of the owners Francesca and Pietro, Ristorante I Gelsi is located in an 18th-century farmhouse that has been elegantly renovated recently. It contains two indoor dining rooms and a delightful portico ideal for summer evenings, as well as a large garden where you can relax and enjoy excellent cuisine.
Our Macerata restaurant has always endeavoured to satisfy customers' requests, offering not just handmade pasta but also a wide range of local specialities such as homemade desserts and barbecued meat, cooked on an ancient wood-burning oven. You can also order bison (cut €35, rib-eye steak €180).
Initially opened for the love of horses as a sort of club house for members of the equestrian centre, today Ristorante I Gelsi is the ideal meeting place to enjoy authentic Marche cuisine.

BARBECUE

The workhorse of our restaurant in Macerata is definitely our succulent barbecued meat. Pietro, one of the owners of the business, is the son of a cattle trader, so he grew up around meat and knows how to select quality.
Among the local specialities offered by Ristorante I Gelsi are local lamb, as well as several different cuts to satisfy even the most discerning palate, from chops to T-bone steaks.

Ristorante I Gelsi has the pride of having more than 300 years of history behind it. The farmhouse used to be a stable for carriages travelling from Ancona to Rome, the ideal place to change horses, let them rest and refresh themselves after a long journey.
Purchased in 2003 and renovated while retaining the structure's original materials, Ristorante I Gelsi has kept all the characteristics of the place: here you will find a brazier and a wooden oven dating back to the 19th century in order to preserve the correct cooking methods of the past.
Thanks to the variety of products that our area offers every day, we prepare many local specialities for our customers, such as meat prepared in an old wood-burning oven. Our meat is selected exclusively from trusted breeders. In this way, we guarantee only the best for our guests every day.
